Our clients had purchased this flat to turn it into their new family home. And it came with great potential, located at the end of a Victorian terrace, its rear doors opened on a very large garden. We planned a rear extension to accommodate dining and living spaces, plus a bedroom with ensuite. We kept the kitchen in the original place at the rear of the house and opened this into a tall and bright new space for the dining table and large doors to the garden. On the largest side of the garden we planned the living area with a spacious sitting room and views over the garden. Here we exposed the ceiling structure, which holds a green roof above, and the brick wall which that has replaced the existing garden wall. On the more 'private' side we located the new bedroom with ensuite.

The extension features bookshelves all around the dining area that have been built by the client from simple wooden planks.
